August 18 Event at Lone Star College-Montgomery is Free to the Public

Lone Star College-Montgomery and its Academy for Lifelong Learning (ALL), in association with the Better Business Bureau, AARP, and the Texas AgriLife Extension Service, will host a Senior Fraud Expo on Monday, August 18, to help fight against the abuse and exploitation of the area’s rapidly expanding senior population

The expo, free of charge for all attendees, will take place from 9:30-11:30 a.m. in the LSC-Montgomery theatre (Building D). The college is located at 3200 College Park Drive, between Conroe and The Woodlands, just one-half mile west of I-45.

There will be refreshments and door prizes, in addition to featured speakers and exhibitors.

Attendees will learn how to:
- Protect their identity
- Choose a home remodeler
- Fight Medicare fraud
- Hang up on telemarketers
- Protect themselves from financial exploitation
- Not be a victim of sweepstakes schemes

Featured speakers include representatives from the Better Business Bureau, U.S. Postal Inspector, Social Security Administration, and the Securities & Exchange Commission. Refreshments are provided courtesy of The Conservatory, a refined retirement community in The Woodlands.

“This is a great way to gather a lot of information that can save you headaches and frustration when it comes to fraud and deception,” said Donna Smith-Burns, former chair and current program of ALL. “The lineup of speakers is tremendous, and you can’t beat the price--free!”
